Demographics and Psychographics

  1) What information do media companies use to create a demographic profile of their audience? Media producers define and categorise their audience through demographic profiles. A demographic audience profile defines groups based on things like age, gender, education, social class, race/ethnicity. 2) Why are media companies and advertisers increasingly using audience profiling and not just demographics? Peoples lifestyles have significantly changed and media companies need deeper level of information. 3) The Succeeder- This applies to me because i have a goal right now in my life at the gym which is helping me build up discipline.

Camerawork and Editing

 1. Hand Held: This is used when he is getting off the train and sees the police. The director chose to use this camera movement to show tension between the character and the police showing that he is in trouble and is going to need to run away. The effect it has on the audience will make them think that he is in trouble and cause terror on the audiences emotions. Pan: This used when he is climbing up the ladder and running away from the police. The director chose to use this camera movement to show how whens climbing up he knocks them down one by one and creates a dramatic effect on the audience of him fighting them and the police not being able to stop him. Track/Dolly: This is used when he is falling down from the ladder and jumps on the police man flying in the air. The director chose to use this to show how fast he was falling down and that the scene was fast-paced. It tells the audience that the scene happened quick and it puts agitation on what will happen next and if he escapes

 1. Medium Shot: They used this camera shot when they were calling each other in the first part of the clip. The shot is used when it shows your whole face and hair and your shoulder to display when someone is speaking. Close Up: This shot is used when the camera is targeted on an object. It has been used when they had the phone in their house. Also, when the keyboard was being used by everyone to type in something. It also tells that they are putting the attention on it and making you think that its important. Wide Shot: This shot is used when a big scene is happening and you have to see how it happens from a wider angle. This was used when the rings were being transmitted from the earth to a different planet to connect to Doctor Who through the phone. The big object which looks like a rocket is the main source of it and transmits out of the earth showing that is machine is powerful. 2. Denotation and Connotation

Water Aid Advert: Denotation: An advert stating ‘Dig Toilets Not Graves’  with a young man standing next to it. It has been published by WaterAid. Connotation:This ad is trying to represent that they should be digging out toilets as not enough people are able to use the toilet. It is also said that more graves are being made rather then toilets which are more helpful for people. Analysis: The boy is standing there saying that he’s in need of a toilet and sees that people care more about building graves. He is also not smiling but rather has a more serious face which states that this is a real problem in the world and needs to be fixed soon. Denotation: An advert for KFC stating ‘It’s finger lickin good’ Connotation: This ad is trying to represent that their chicken is so good that it will make you lick your fingers. It is also saying they are the best in the game as it’s the most tasty. Analysis: As you are reading this advert it will make you consider buying it as if they say it’s tha

Mise-en-scene. Stranger Things Analysis

Setting: Denotation: The shed is old and has a gun inside. Connotation: The shed is old and rusty suggesting that it is haunted as he got taken from the light meaning there was an unknown pressence inside. He had a gun on him to protect himself as there was a mysterious figure chasing him. Analysis: The video helps the audience understand that its a horror scene and he the monster is trying to hurt him. It also tries to say he was frightened as he was taking deep breaths and shaking while holding the gun. Actor Placement and Movement: Denotation: He travels on his bike from his friends house through the woods to his house and down to his shed. Connotation: The woods looked scary and there was a creature near as the camera tries to show that theres something lurking for him. It was already late at night and he was alone. He was running to his shed showing that he was scared. Analysis: The audience will feel suspence as they want to know what happens next and if he survives. Props: Denot
